India, Belarus sign MoUs-indian bureaucracy

India and Belarus have signed ten MoUs in areas like Oil and Gas, Youth Affairs and Sports, Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Scientific and Technical Cooperation, Agricultural Research and Education and Culture. The agreements were signed after delegation level talks between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Belarus President Aleksander Grigoryevich Lukashenko in New Delhi.

In a joint press statement with Belarus President Lukashenko, Mr Modi said, he and Mr Lukashenko reviewed architecture of India-Belarus partnership and exchanged ideas to expand it. He said India will encourage joint development and manufacturing with Belarus in Defence sector under Make in India programme. He said there are immense possibilities in Pharma, oil and heavy industries sectors. He said they have agreed to scale up partnership and diversify economic linkage with focus on natural complementaries between the two nations. Mr Modi said technology development centres will be opened in India to showcase Belarus technology. The two leaders released commemorative postage stamp to mark the 25th anniversary of India-Belarus diplomatic relationships.

Earlier, on Tuesday morning, Mr Lukashenko was given ceremonial reception at Rashtrapati Bhavan. He also laid wreath at Mahatma Gandhi’s Samadhi, Rajghat. Vice President M. Venkaiah Naidu and External Affairs Minister called on the visiting dignitary.

AIR correspondent reports, Mr Lukashenko’s visit is significant as it taking place in a year when Belarus and India are celebrating 25th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations.Mr Lukashenko had arrived in New Delhi on Monday night.
