Indian Bureaucracy News, Ranchi, January 07, 2026 | Shri Homkar Amol Vinukant IPS (Jharkhand 2004), presently in cadre and posted as Inspector General of Police (IGP), Railways, Jharkhand, Ranchi, and consequently appointed by MHA as as Inspector General in Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) on deputation basis, has been relieved from the Jharkhand Government (wef 06.01.2026) to enable him to take up his new assignment at the Centre.
A Mechanical Engineering graduate from Walchand College of Engineering, Sangli, Maharashtra, Shri Vinukant, entered the civil services in September 2004 and went on to build a long and varied career within the Jharkhand Police. Over the years, he served as Superintendent and Senior Superintendent of Police in several districts before moving on to senior leadership roles as Deputy Inspector General and Inspector General in key divisions, including Operations and Railways.
He is best known for his work in internal security and counter-insurgency. As IG Operations, he led efforts that significantly weakened Maoist networks in difficult terrain such as Budha Pahar and the Parasnath region. His service has been recognised with multiple honours, including the Presidential Police Medal and the Union Home Minister’s Special Operation Medal.
On 26th December 2025, the Ministry of Home Affairs approved his induction into the CRPF on central deputation. He was formally relieved of his responsibilities as IG Railways on 06 January, 2026 and has since taken up his new assignment in New Delhi, contributing to national-level internal security efforts.
