Indian Bureaucracy News, Shimla, September 15, 2025 | In a meeting chaired by Chief Minister Shri Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on Monday, the Himachal Pradesh Cabinet cleared decisions spanning employment generation, healthcare, education, infrastructure, and energy. The announcements come weeks after the state was battered by devastating floods, underscoring the urgency of rebuilding livelihoods and ensuring resilience in critical sectors.
Jobs Approved
The Cabinet gave the go-ahead for more than 4,300 government job opportunities across departments. This includes the engagement of 1,602 Bijli Upbhogta Mitras in HPSEB Ltd, filling 1,000 T/Mate posts, and recruiting 645 Patwaris on a trainee basis. Healthcare services will be strengthened with 400 Staff Nurses and 200 Medical Officers as job trainees. In addition, 300 job trainees will be appointed in Gram Panchayats. The government also sanctioned new permanent posts, including 38 Assistant Professors in specialist medical fields, 25 Steno-Typists in the Secretariat, and 5 posts in the Environment Department, among others.
Developmental Initiatives
The Cabinet approved affiliation of 100 government schools with CBSE from the next academic session, launch of the CM Start-Up Scheme in Hospitality, establishment of 28 dialysis centres across nine districts, and bifurcation of the Medical Officer cadre into General and Specialist streams. It also allowed 10% LADF funds to be used for financial assistance to children, and cleared amendments to recruitment rules to ease document submission norms.
Infrastructure and Energy Projects
On the infrastructure front, the government approved a new Sub-Tehsil at Saach in Chamba, upgradation of Chadiyar in Kangra to full Tehsil, reorganisation of blocks in Hamirpur, creation of a new Jal Shakti Sub-Division at Harsi, and new police stations in Solan. The Cabinet also cleared lease of land at 13 sites for Green Hydrogen and Solar and Compressed Biogas (CBG) power projects, extended the deadline for Kangra Airport land acquisition till June 2026, and amended lease rules to allow Himachal Pradesh Housing and Urban Development Authority (HIMUDA) to hold land for 80 years.
Other approvals included mandatory safety training for paragliding pilots, renewal of land lease in Shimla, and empowering graduate police constables to investigate minor offences.
While the new jobs are expected to provide immediate relief by absorbing thousands of families into government service, officials said the infrastructure and clean energy projects cleared by the Cabinet would act as long-term drivers of employment and self-employment in the flood-hit state. They acknowledged that these projects would take longer to materialise but stressed their importance in making Himachal’s economy more resilient to future climate shocks.
