Indian Bureaucracy, Chandigarh, August 25, 2025| The Haryana government has carried out a restructuring exercise involving transfers and additional charges, affecting 20 officers — 8 IAS and 12 HCS. Of the HCS officers, 10 have been appointed as Special Officers (Sanitation).

The state has created a temporary ex-cadre post of Special Officer (Sanitation) in municipal corporations, with salaries and perks to be drawn from the respective corporations.

Despite extensive searches, no official document detailing the role could be found in the public domain through online inquiry platforms, raising the possibility that the specifics may have been notified through an internal communication or gazette not readily accessible online at present.

From the limited information available, the post appears to be temporary and tied to municipal funding. It is believed to be part of a time-bound sanitation drive, possibly linked to the state’s recent plan to recruit 8,000 sanitation workers. The exact scope of duties and reporting structure, however, remains unclear.
