G R Agarwal appointed Secretary- Railway Board

Shri Ganga Ram Agarwal, an officer of Indian Railway Services of Electrical Engineering (IRSEE) has been posted as the new Secretary, Railway Board. He takes charge from  Shri P.C.Gajbhiye who is superannuating on 31.07.2015. Prior to this posting, Shri G.R.Agarwal was working as Chief Electrical Engineer, Central Railway.

A graduate from IIT Roorkee, Shri Agarwal did his Masters in Electrical Engineering from University of Applied Sciences, Darmstadt, Germany and joined IRSEE in 1981. He also did Masters of Business Administration (MBA) in Finance Management.

In his Indian bureaucracy career, Shri Agarwal  has worked in different capacities in Northern Railway, RDSO/Lucknow, Railway Board, North Western Railway, Western Railway & Central Railway .He has worked as Divisional Railway Manager, Jaipur Division of North Western Railway. He has worked as Chief Electrical Engineer of South Central Railway and Central Railway.

Awarded the General Manager’s Efficiency Shield for Best Divisional Performance for Jaipur Division and Energy Conservation Award from President of India during 2011, 2012, 1013 & 2014, he has attended Advanced Professional Programme in Public Management. Travelled to UK, France, Germany, Belgium, Netherlands, for training in Public Management and maintenance of electric locomotives. He has also been an assessor for awarding projects by GPM Germany.
