Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has said that 34,022 crore rupees farm loan waiver scheme announced last week would put a burden on the state coffers, but the government would adopt some innovative schemes to raise funds for it.

He added that the government has already borrowed loans for several development works. Fadnavis was speaking to a delegation of farmers that met him at the Sahyadri guest house in mumbai Tuesday afternoon.

CM said that the Finance Department had recommended a cap of restricting the loan waiver amount up to Rs 15,000 crore, but the state went ahead and offered loan waiver of Rs 34,000 crore.

He said that the government would like to introduce solar water pumps for agriculture purposes and it can be started from Ralegan Siddhi village in Ahmednagar district of Maharashtra.
