PIB News Update: In the new education system, regulation would be light but tight, as education is made flexible to suit it to changing times, experts highlighted at a tech talk on the rapidly changing education system being introduced in the backdrop of the National Education Policy 2020.
The new system where the role of teacher is like a facilitator or navigator would help create manpower required for development and progress of the country in the changing times in sync with various government programmes such as Startup India, Digital India, Make in India, Skill India, Atmanirbhar Bharat and so on, Prof Anil Saharsabudhe, Chairman, AICTE, said at the talk organised by Technology Information, Forecasting & Assessment Council (TIFAC) to celebrate Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav.
“NEP 2020 is in place and a lot of tweaking has been done to make education play a huge role in the growth and development of economy and the country. Encouraging quality education and cutting down on problem areas can help students to optimize their potential for a better future for themselves as well as for the progress and development of the country,” Professor Saharsabudhe pointed out at his talk on the topic ‘Access, Anytime, Anywhere – A New Education Paradigm’.
“Manpower is supplied by the education sector. A lot of initiatives and programmes have been started by the government for the growth and development of economy as well as citizens of the country, and education sector is key to provide the required skills. This is a national task, and both the government and the private sector are responsible for it,” he added.
TIFAC initiated the Tech Talk series this year to disseminate knowledge of science & technology for the benefit of the scientific fraternity and society.
Dr. Pradeep Srivastava, Executive Director, TIFAC, elaborated on the work done by TIFAC on the roadmap on education sector. “TIFAC has come up with Technology Roadmap 2035 for the Education Sector. Our vision is on skill development to help create more job providers and not job seekers for growth and development of Indian economy,” he said.
