The Authority Holding Sealed Particulars (AHSP) of the P-7 Parachute System has been handed over to the Directorate General of Quality Assurance (DGQA) by the Aerial Delivery Research and Development Establishment (ADRDE) of DRDO, Agra. The formal handover ceremony took place at DRDO Bhawan in New Delhi, where Dr. Samir V. Kamat, Secretary of the Department of Defence R&D and Chairman of DRDO, presented the AHSP.

ADRDE successfully designed, developed, and qualified the P-7 Parachute System, which has been fabricated by Gliders India Limited (Ordnance Parachute Factory), Kanpur. This system is capable of safely dropping payloads of up to 9.5 tons from IL-76 Aircraft at altitudes of up to four kilometers.

The Indian Army will be able to rapidly deploy Light Field Guns and Jeeps in border and conflict areas via air dropping with this advanced system. The Army has placed an order with GIL (OPF) Kanpur for the supply of 146 P-7 Heavy Drop Parachute Systems. Having successfully completed the General Staff Evaluation, the system has now been inducted into service.
