On May 17, 2023, the Directorate-General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) granted approval for the implementation of night landing operations at Kalaburagi Airport in Karnataka. This decision comes after a prolonged demand for the provision of nighttime landing facilities at the airport. The airport, which was inaugurated on November 22, 2019, by the former Chief Minister of Karnataka, Shri B S Yediyurappa, features a runway designated as 09-27, measuring 3175m x 45m, and an apron capable of accommodating three aircraft (one A-320 and two ATR 72/Q-400). As a result of DGCA’s approval, the Aerodrome License for the airport has been revised from VFR (Visual Flight Rules) to IFR (Instrumental Flight Rules) to enable operations in all weather conditions.
