Shri Devidatta Satapathy IRSME (2009), presently Chief Vigilance Officer (CVO), Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Port Authority, Kolkata, has been given additional charge of Chief Vigilance Officer – Paradip Port Authority, for a period of one year or until the appointment of a regular CVO at Paradip Port Authority.

Paradip Port, located in Odisha, is a major port and an autonomous body under the Major Port Trusts Act, 1963, owned by the Government of India and administered by a board of trustees appointed by the Centre.

Late Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru laid the foundation stone of Paradip Port on January 3, 1962, near the confluence of the Mahanadi and the Bay of Bengal, while its vision, scale of operation and new avatar owed much to late Biju Patnaik, the then Chief Minister of Odisha. The Government of India assumed control from the Odisha government on June 1, 1965, marking a new phase in its development. On March 12, 1966, INS Investigator made its maiden berthing, followed by the official opening of the port by late Peter Stambolić, then Prime Minister of Yugoslavia. Paradip was declared India’s eighth major port on April 18, 1966—the first major port on the East Coast after independence. Today, it functions under the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways as an autonomous body led by the Chairman of the Paradip Port Authority and governed by its board of trustees.
