The Department of Consumer Affairs, along with its subordinate, attached offices, autonomous bodies, and field formations, is actively participating in the Special Campaign 3.0, aimed at promoting cleanliness and enhancing workplace experiences in government offices. The campaign, conducted from 2nd to 31st October 2023 under the Department of Administrative Reforms & Grievances (DARPG), focuses on expediting the resolution of pending matters and fostering cleanliness in all government offices.

Shri Rohit Kumar Singh, Secretary of the Department of Consumer Affairs, visited the divisions in Krishi Bhawan on 27th September 2023 to review the department’s preparations for the special campaign.

Under the campaign, the Department of Consumer Affairs and its units have identified 150 sites for cleanliness campaigns and activities. The primary focus includes record management and improving the workplace experience. The department has set targets for various categories, and sites for cleaning have been identified. The campaign aims to dispose of the pendency in public grievances, appeals, and file reviews. A total of 994 public grievances, 1496 public grievance appeals, and 1922 files are identified for review and weeding out.

In addition to cleaning office premises, subordinate, attached, and autonomous bodies, such as the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), The National Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission (NCDRC), Indian Institute of Legal Metrology (IILM), National Test House (NTH), and Regional Reference Standards Laboratory (RRSL), are conducting outreach programs. These include distributing pamphlets to raise awareness among the public about cleanliness and the harms of single-use plastic, organizing essay writing and drawing competitions at schools, and cleaning their office premises, laboratories, training institutes, hostels, and quarters. These organizations are also identifying scrap materials, including old furniture and e-waste, to be auctioned during the campaign, freeing up space for office use.

The progress of the campaign is monitored and uploaded daily on the SCDPM portal hosted by DARPG. All attached, subordinate, and autonomous organizations are actively participating in the campaign to achieve the set targets during the specified period.
