The Delhi government will launch a year-long anti-drug campaign tomorrow, beginning with a seminar at Ambedkar University. The campaign, which will be run by the social welfare department, is being launched in wake of findings of various surveys that indicates an increasing trend among youths of getting addicted to drugs and subsequently involved in related crimes.

The drive would be extended to schools and residential areas in the next phase, an official said, adding the campaign will begin with a seminar at Ambedkar University.

“We will then move to different colleges of Delhi University, IP University and Delhi Technical University where street plays and seminars will be held,” a senior official said, adding college students would participate in these plays.

The official said besides partnering with non-government organisations, the department has roped in celebrities for the campaign.Around 1,200 shows are likely to be held over the next one year and about 12 drama societies have already been registered for the campaign, the official added.
