The Ministry of Defence has emerged as the leading entity on the Government eMarketplace (GeM), topping both in order value and quantity among 56 participating Ministries/Departments. GeM’s Gross Merchandise Value (GMV) has reached an impressive Rs. 73,225.30 Cr as of September 12, 2023. In the current fiscal year, procurement through GeM has already hit Rs. 18,790.60 Cr. Under the Department of Defence Production, Defence Public Sector Undertakings (DPSUs) sold goods and services worth Rs. 2,642.66 Cr on GeM in FY 2022-23.
The Ministry’s consistent and significant contribution underscores GeM’s effectiveness in transparent and streamlined procurement operations. The platform’s widespread adoption by various defence entities further exemplifies its success in simplifying and enhancing the overall procurement landscape.
