‘Make in India’ companies to dominate at Defence Expo 2016, with 498 Indian companies confirming their participation to the Defence Exhibition Organisation (DEO).

Of the nearly 977 companies turning out from 46 nations (including India) at Goa this year, nearly 51 per cent are domestic exhibitors. The figures of the domestic participants have near doubled since the 2014 edition, in which there were 256 Indian exhibitors and 368 foreign stalls.

Among the familiar list of Indian exhibitors include Ashok Leyland, Bharat Electronics Limited, Bharat Forge, BrahMos Aerospace, Defence Research Developmental Organization, Goa Shipyard, Mahindra group and the Kirloskar’s, among the familiar names in the domestic defence circuit.

The Indian delegation of exhibitors in the pavilion is followed 479 foreign participants of whom 91 companies will represent from the United States, 71 from Russia, 46 companies from United Kingdom and 38 business ventures each from France, Germany and Israel. In comparison to 30 foreign nations participating in 2014, this year 46 nations will take part. However, China and Pakistan will not partake in the exhibition. “Although, the Chinese delegation maybe present,” Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar had said on earlier occasion.

The ninth edition of the four-day exhibition held at Quepem in South Goa will focus featuring latest developments and products in Land, Martime and domestic security system.
