In Kerala, the devaswom system manages nearly 3,000 temples and earns approximately 1,000 crores annually in revenue. The five major devaswoms—Guruvayur, Travancore, Malabar, Cochin, and Koodalmanikyam—oversee these temples, each with its own revenue and asset base. For example, the Guruvayur devaswom has assets of 2500 crores and the Travancore devaswom earns 390 crores in revenue. Notable temples within this network include the Sabarimala Hill Shrine, Chettikulangara Devi temple, and Koodalmanikyam Temple, each generating significant revenue and demonstrating the vast financial resources within the devaswom system available to the state.
