In our pursuit of excellence they have been our constant partners,” said Mr. Dipak Chattaraj, CEO, Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) while addressing a gathering of MoU customers of the plant’s Plate Mill plates organised at RSP’s HRD Centre yesterday.25 customers belonging to 16 organisations from all the 4 regions of the country along with senior officials from SAIL’s Central Marketing Organisation (CMO) attended the Customer Meet. Along with CEO/RSP, Mr. M.C. Agrawal, ED (Marketing)/CMO, Mr. Gautam Banerjee, ED (Works)/RSP, and Mr. D.K. Mohapatra, ED (MM)/RSP, interacted with the customers during the programme.
Elaborating about RSP’s commitment to produce safe steel and green steel, the CEO also highlighted about the SAP system of RSP through which the status of orders can be tracked at every step, making the entire process completely transparent. Mr. Chattaraj also exhorted the customers to share their problems, ideas and suggestions freely so that the same can be addressed and in the process RSP can further improve its quality, service and efficiency. The CEO concluded his speech by wishing further consolidation of the relationship between RSP and its customers.
Mr. Gautam Banerjee, in his address spoke about the state-of-the-art facilities and product profile of new Plate Mill. Mr. D.K. Mohapatra highlighted the new facilities and sophisticated equipment being added to the New Plate Mill to further improve the quality and surface finish of the products. Speaking on the occasion, Mr. M.C. Agrawal said that SAIL-RSP has a major share in the plates market of the country. As customers from all the major segments of the plates market were present, he expressed hope that the meet will be a very fruitful exercise.Earlier Ms. Sunita Singh, DGM (PPC) made a presentation on the production trend, superior quality, product range and testing facilities of the New Plate Mill of RSP.In the interaction session, various topics pertaining to the plates were discussed threadbare. Many of the customers expressed happiness over the chemistry, mechanical property, surface finish and other properties of RSP plates.
Earlier in the morning the customers attended a meeting with ED (Works) and other senior officers of the Plant. Later they visited the New Plate Mill and took a keen interest in the process of plate making.The meet was attended by customers from various segments like makers of pipes, pressure vessels, wagons, machinery, structural and earth moving equipment to customers engaged in the construction of important buildings and bridges. Some of them were M/s Escorts Ltd., M/s FORBES VYNCKE (P) LIMITED, M/s Afcons SIBMOST JV, M/s Hardrock Fabrication Pvt Ltd, M/s ISGEC etc.
