Uttrakhand CM laid Foundation stone of SJVN 60 MW Naitwar Mori Hydro Electric Project

Hon’ble Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) Power, Shri R.K. Singh and Hon’ble Chief Minister of Uttrakhand, Shri Trivender Singh Rawat laid the foundation stone of SJVN’s 60 MW Naitwar Mori Hydro Electric Project at Mori. The project is located on River Tons, a major tributary of River Yamuna on the Ganga basin, in Uttarkashi district of Uttarakhand.

The function was graced by Smt. Mala Rajya Lakshmi Saha Hon’ble MP of Tehri Garhwal, Sh. Raj Kumar Hon’ble MLA Purola, Sh. Gopal Singh Rawat Hon’ble MLA Gangotri, Sh. Kedar Singh Rawat Hon’ble MLA Yamunotri, Sh. Ajay Kumar Bhalla, Secretary (Power) GOI, Ms Archana Aggarwal, JS MOP GOI, Ms Radhika Jha, Secy(Energy) Uttarakhand. The function was commemorated in presence of Shri Nand Lal Sharma, Chairman and Managing Director SJVN, along with all other Directors & senior officials.

Speaking on the occasion, Shri Nand Lal Sharma, CMD (SJVN), briefed that the project has 30.5 meters high Dam structure, with 4.3 kilometres long Head Race Tunnel having diameter of 5.6 meters, with Surge Shaft 51.65 meters deep. The Underground Power House of the project will consist of two Vertical Francis type Turbines of 30 MW each. CMD explained that SJVN has long tried and tested experience of Constructing and Commissioning Mega Hydro Projects such as 1500 MW Nathpa Jhakri Hydro Power Station and 412 MW Rampur Hydro Power Station on Satluj basin. He assured that SJVN will deploy competent and experienced manpower and the project would be commissioned in record period of 48 months.

Shri Nand Lal Sharma, CMD (SJVN) also informed that the Naitwar Mori Hydro Electric Project is designed as a standalone run of the river project. One of the major features of the project is that there is no displacement of population from the project site. CAT plan of the project has already been approved by Govt. of Uttrakhand. Ministry of Environment and Forest has also already accorded clearances. The R&R Plan for the project with budget outlay of Rs. 14.45 Crores has already been approved by Govt. of Uttarakhand. After commissioning of the Project, 12% free electricity will be supplied to the State of Uttarakhand as royalty. In addition to this each Project Affected Family will be provided with an amount equivalent to cost of 100 Units of electricity per month for ten years.

Hon’ble Chief Minister of Uttrakhand, Sh. Trivender Singh Rawat, while welcoming the Hon’ble Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) Power, Shri R.K. Singh appreciated the role of SJVN to develop this project in Uttrakhand. He promised all assistance and help from the Government and administration of Uttrakhand in expeditious completion of the Project.

Hon’ble Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) Power, Shri R.K. Singh commended the efforts of Uttrakhand in developing this project. He expressed the hope that this project would go a long way in meeting the energy demands of Uttrakhand. The Hon’ble Minister gave his assurance of all necessary co-operation of Ministry of Power in fully electrifying the State under the Saubhagya Scheme launched under the dynamic leadership of hon’ble Prime Minister Sh Narendra Modi.

The project has the potential to generate 265.5 Million Units of electricity every year. The estimated cost of the project at October, 2016 Price Level is Rs. 648.33 Crores. Construction period of Naitwar Mori project is 48 months. The Main Civil Works have already been awarded on 05.12.2017 and all three packages for project roads have been awarded and work is in progress.
