Indian Bureaucracy News Network, Patna, October 03, 2025 | In Indian Bureaucracy news update, the General Administration Department of the Government of Bihar, has issued a notification dated November 2, 2025, promoting 19 officers of the Bihar Administrative Service (BAS) to the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Bihar Cadre. The decision, coming close to the Bihar Assembly elections, carries administrative and political weight as it reshapes the state’s senior bureaucracy during a crucial period.
According to the notification, the promotions were made following the approval of the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT), Government of India, via its notification dated October 24, 2025. The General Administration Department further clarified that the Election Commission of India’s consent had been duly obtained before issuing the notification, ensuring full compliance with the Model Code of Conduct in force during the election period.
All nineteen officers will continue to discharge their duties in their present postings, re-designated to function in the capacity of Indian Administrative Service officers at the Joint Secretary level, until further orders. Among them, Shri Rajesh Parimal IAS has been assigned the role of Joint Secretary to the Chief Minister’s Office, as part of the reclassification of positions following elevation to the IAS cadre.
