In the Asian Athletics Championships, Indian runners set ablaze the tracks of Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar by grabbing all four Gold medals on offer on a rain-soaked second day of events. Muhammad Anas and Nirmala Sheoran won a Gold medal each in the 400 metres races, while Silver medals also went to India through Rajiv Arokia and Jisna Mathew. PU Chitra and Ajay Kumar Saroj bagged a Gold each in the 1,500 metres races.

AIR correspondent reports that despite the evening drizzle disrupting proceedings for around 20 minutes, the spectators remained glued to their seats with the hope of seeing the Indian athletes increase their medals tally. Shortly after the events resumed, India bagged two gold medals amid loud cheers from the spectators.

At this moment India are currently at the top of the medals tally with 15 medals – 6 Gold, 3 Silver and 6 Bronze while China stood at 2nd position with 10 medals. Odia athletes, Jauna Murmu, Srabani Nanda and Purnima Hembram featured in the Indian contingent, will begin their campaigns today.
