Armed Forces contingent of 500 personnel to compete at National Games 2023, Goa

The 37th National Games (NG-23) in Goa have seen a formidable presence as the Services Sports Control Board (SSCB) deploys a contingent of approximately 500 Armed Forces personnel to compete in a multitude of sporting events.

Grand Kick-off

NG-23, one of India’s most prestigious multi-sport events, officially commenced on October 23, 2023, and is set to captivate sports enthusiasts until its conclusion on November 09, 2023. The extravaganza is all set to witness a grand opening ceremony on October 26, 2023, with the esteemed presence of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi as the Chief Guest.

SSCB’s Commitment to Excellence

As the National Games unfold, all eyes are on the SSCB contingent, eager to witness their exceptional contributions and sporting excellence. NG-23 promises to be a celebration of athleticism and a showcase of the nation’s sporting talent. The skilled and dedicated team will be competing in 23 different sporting disciplines and is expected to make its mark the National Games. With a rich history of active participation, the SSCB has been at the forefront of promoting and fostering sports, even before India gained independence. Their consistent aim at the National Games is to demonstrate exceptional skills and outperform in various disciplines.

The SSCB contingent has consistently dominated the medals tally since 2007, securing the top position in the last four editions. During NG-22, held in Gujarat, the Services achieved an impressive haul of 128 medals, comprising 61 Gold, 35 Silver, and 32 Bronze, ultimately winning the prestigious Raja Bhalinder Singh Trophy. Notably, a total of 480 Armed Forces personnel proudly represented the SSCB during NG-22.
