The post of Director – Electronic Delivery of Citizen Services (EDCS) has been declared equivalent in status and responsibilities to the cadre post of Director of Municipal Administration in the Senior Scale of IAS.
The Directorate of Electronic Delivery of Citizen Services (EDCS), under Karnataka’s Department of Personnel and Administrative Reforms, is an important driver in the state’s e-governance push. Through platforms like Seva Sindhu, offering 800+ services from 80 departments, EDCS enables digital access to government services, promoting efficiency, transparency, and accountability. Major initiatives such as Kutumba—a social registry covering 5.8 crore citizens—ensure targeted welfare delivery. Karnataka’s DBT platform disbursed ₹11,925.11 crore to 1.8 crore beneficiaries in 2021–22, reflecting the scale of impact. With 38% of India’s IT exports, the state continues to leverage technology and data analytics to power inclusive digital growth.
