The UP government has elevated three senior IAS officers of the 1994 batch to the rank of Additional Chief Secretary, marking a major reshuffle in the state bureaucracy. Promoted from Principal Secretary to Additional Chief Secretary are:
- Shri Amit Kumar Ghosh IAS (Uttar Pradesh 1994) – Principal Secretary, Medical Health & Family Welfare and Medical Education
- Smt Leena Johri IAS (Uttar Pradesh 1994) – Principal Secretary, Women & Child Development and Director General, Rashtriya Poshan Mission
- Shri Partha Sarthi Sen Sharma IAS (Uttar Pradesh 1994) – Principal Secretary, Basic and Secondary Education
All three officers will continue to serve in their existing portfolios, now in their elevated capacities as Additional Chief Secretaries.
The promotions reinforce leadership across crucial departments that are central to the state’s progress in health, education, and welfare. Amit Kumar Ghosh has played a pivotal role in strengthening Uttar Pradesh’s public health and medical education framework, especially during and after the pandemic. Leena Johri, heading the Women & Child Development Department, is leading major initiatives under the Rashtriya Poshan Mission to tackle malnutrition and improve child welfare. Partha Sarthi Sen Sharma, an experienced administrator and accomplished author, is advancing transformative reforms in school education with an emphasis on enhancing learning outcomes and expanding digital infrastructure across primary and secondary levels.
