Dr. Akshay Jain is an Indian Revenue Service specializing in Income Tax. In April 2022, he was appointed as Deputy Secretary in the National Health Authority (NHA) under the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, a position he held until his premature repatriation to his parent cadre in March 2025. During his tenure at NHA, Dr. Jain managed several key divisions, including State Partnerships & Coordination for the Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PMJAY), Information, Education, and Communication for PMJAY, and Government Adoption & Integration. He also oversaw EPITOME and addressed VIP reference-related grievances.
Prior to his deputation at NHA, Dr. Jain served as Assistant/Deputy Commissioner of Income Tax within the Indian Revenue Service. He holds a Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree from Sardar Patel Medical College, Bikaner, and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad.
Dr. Jain’s premature repatriation to his parent cadre was approved on personal grounds and includes an extended cooling-off period.
