AAI organized Vigilance Workshop at Pune Airport

Corporate Vigilance Department of the Airports Authority of India (AAI) organized a two-day workshop on “Preventive Vigilance – A Tool for Better Governance’ at Pune International Airport recently. The workshop was inaugurated by Shri. Keshava Sharma, Regional Executive Director (Western Region) in the presence of Airport Director, Pune and Deputy Chief Vigilance Officer (Technical), Corporate Vigilance Department, AAI.

This workshop was designed for officials of smaller airports /remote stations with several interactive sessions by key dignitaries from the Corporate Vigilance Department including Sh. R. S. Bhatti, IPS, Chief Vigilance Officer (CVO), AAI and other senior officers and eminent speakers from various departments of AAI.

RED WR in his inaugural address emphasized that considering exponential growth in the aviation sector and subsequent challenges, there is a need for ensuring effective decision making and adherence to rules and procedures with honesty in day to day official functioning at AAI.

The program was attended by around 54 participants from various airports in the Western Region such as Aurangabad, Bhavnagar, Juhu, Jamnagar, Kandla, Keshod, Pune, Porbandar, Rajkot, Vadodara, Kolhapur, Surat, Jalgaon and Gondia.

Shri. R. S. Bhatti, CVO, AAI elaborated on various activities being organized in AAI by its Vigilance Department. He also mentioned various provision in Vigilance Manual and initiatives by Central Vigilance Commission (CVC) such as the introduction of online Integrity Pledge for Citizen /stakeholders, making complaint through Public Interest Disclosure and Protection of Informers (PIDPI) Resolution by citizens and need of public participation in anti-corruption campaign of the Commission.

He also stressed on the importance of each public servant to carry out his/her day to day functioning as a Vigilance officer. They are the officers at ground level can avoid the first possible lapse/leakage. Further at next level, the senior/controlling officer at Airports/Region can further avoid any possible lapse/leakage in the system at the and finally the Vigilance Department as per guidelines of CVC’s Vigilance Manual takes care of the systems and procedures

This interactive workshop also deliberated on various Preventive Vigilance measures being followed to achieve Good Governance in AAI. In one of the sessions, participants also shared their experience as “My Success Story in AAI”. Under preventive vigilance, Corporate Vigilance Department of AAI has planned to conduct 17 such workshops across the country. The first workshop of the series was organized at Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport, Guwahati.
