  1. Respected sir,

I am Mayakutty M.Sc Nursing (Pediatrics) from Idukki district Munnar residing at Nisha Nagar in Chengalpett District near Modern Rice Mill located near by St.Pauls Matriculation School.Thimavaram.

Its too late for me to bring a health hazard issue relating the dust that araises out from the MODERN RICE MILL,Thimavarm. It has been long more than a year that i stay near the mill.I would like to bring to your kind notice that the dust that arises from the mill have reached the exhausting state that it contaminates the air inhaled by the residents in and around the area.

In study conducted by me during the last six months following are the findings:

1.the particles that rises out from the mill is noticed to be increasing every month consecutively

    2. The particles that settles in and around the houses near by including the St.Pauls Matriculation School brings a large number of bugs that are formed in the rice which are called RICE WEEVILS scientifically known as Sytophilus Oryzae.

3.The people in and around the mill are at high risk of
    a) acute respiratory disorders
    b)Bronhcial asthma
    c)Wheezing
d)Otities media due to dust and weevil
    e) foreign body infestation through the orifices
f)foreign body infesting the eyes of the preschoolers and schoolers including the elderly
g)weevils also spoils the grains and other storeable grains at home
h)these weevils also infests the beds and pillows of the residents living nearby they ultimately lead to the above mentioned health hazards.

Respected sir there are many reported and non reported health issues that are mentioned above .I would like to share an incident when i met a LKG student who had a rice husk in her sclera near eye balls,,, the cry of the child remains in my memory still…the disturbed eyes of the kid complaining the fear to go to school due to the fear of repeated episodes. I have observed students coming to school and attending play time sessions as well assembly sessions with the mask and googles to protect themselves from this dust and weevil.

If the situation highers further the students and near by residents will have to wear ear plugs ,mask and googles including caps to prevent the husk and weevils entering the hairs and a gown to prevent the dust and weevil from entering the dresses and shoes .

Kindly take my mail in serious and do the needfull for the people residing near the rice mill.I request your action in early as possible taking you in the position of father of all children studying at St Pauls School.

    Thanking you

    Yours sincerely,
