The 73rd   Republic Day of the Nation was celebrated at NLCIL with great fervour and enthusiasm.  On behalf of the Company, Shri Rakesh Kumar, CMD, NLCIL, unfurled  the tricolor at the lawns of the Corporate Office, Neyveli in the presence of Functional Directors, CVO, DIG/CISF, Senior Officers, representatives of recognized Trade Unions, Associations representing Engineers & Officers, SC/ST, ST, OBC associations and women employees. Shri R. Vikraman, Director, HR & Mines (AC), delivered the welcome address.

Addressing the gathering, Shri Rakesh Kumar recalled the contributions of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, the architect of Indian Constitution and urged every citizen of the country to contribute in strengthening the spirit of Indianhood.

While emphazing the significance of being conscious with respect to the prevalent pandemic he  stated that NLCIL aligning with the Nation’s inoculation drive, has administered more than 1 lakh vaccination doses to all its stakeholders.   Elaborating the stellar performance of the company during the current year till 31st December, 2021 he  appreciated all the stakeholders for their support and hard work which enabled the company to accomplish it.

NLCIL has unveiled a revised R&R Policy for Neyveli Mines, with fair compensation and benefits. The R&R Policy envisages a minimum compensation of Rs.23.0 lakh per acre for the lands under acquisition for Neyveli area, if the compensation, as per the provisions of RFCTLARR Act amounts to be less than Rs.23 lakh per acre. For lands which are entitled for above Rs.23 lakhs per acre as per the act, the same will be paid at actual without any ceiling as per statute. Provision for a minimum compensation of Rs.40.0 Lakh per acre for the home stead lands acquired from rural area and a  minimum of Rs.75.0 Lakh per acre for the homestead lands acquired from urban area has been made in the policy and he quoted that the revised policy was the best in the country.

Citing the vision of the company to generate  4250 MW of renewable energy by 2025, CMD stated that the coal based 3×660 MW Power project of Neyveli Uttar Pradesh Power Limited is in the advanced stage of commissioning.

Besides business performance, the Company has been continuing its welfare initiatives and it has established an ITI in Neyveli for the benefit of PAPs, he added.

For all the guidance, support and help rendered, CMD thanked the Hon’ble Minister of Coal, Mines & Parliamentary Affairs, Secretary to GoI, MoC and all the State & Union Territory governments where NLCIL has its presence.

As a symbolic gesture of respect to its most important asset- its employees- the senior most worker of NLCIL Smt. R. Selvambal, Att.Spl.Gr.”A”, Thermal Power Station-II, along with her spouse Shri K. Gunasekaran, were honoured during the celebrations of the day.
