In his administrative career, Shri Yogesh Kumar has held several important assignments in the Government of Uttar Pradesh. Since 13 June 2023, he has been serving as Special Secretary to Government and Director, Home Department, Lucknow, a critical role within the state’s internal security and law-and-order framework. In this capacity, he has been involved in strategic coordination, policy implementation, and institutional strengthening within the Home Department.
Earlier in 2023, he served as Additional Commissioner and Director, Rural Development, where he played a role in advancing rural livelihood initiatives and development planning. Prior to that, from November to December 2022, he was posted as Special Secretary to the Government of Uttar Pradesh and Director in the office of the Agriculture Production Commissioner, contributing to agricultural administration and inter-departmental coordination.
His longest and most substantive engagement has been in the Rural Development Department, where he worked as Additional Commissioner and Deputy Secretary from October 2020 to November 2022. During this period, he was associated with the implementation of flagship development programmes, monitoring outcomes, and strengthening delivery mechanisms at the grassroots level.
