SJVN celebrated World Environment Day in its Corporate Office, Shanan. World Environment Day is celebrated on 5th June every year and is United Nation’s primary vehicle for spreading global awareness and action for protection of environment.   The theme for World Environment Day 2017 is  – “Connecting People to Nature” and pleads us to think how we are a part of the nature, how austerely we depend on it, and the absolute need to protect the Earth for our future generations.

The day long celebrations commenced with the tree plantation at the Corporate Office Complex, Shanan by Sh A S Bindra, Director (Finance), Sh N L Sharma, Director (Personnel), Sh R K Bansal, Director (Electrical), Sh Kanwar Singh, Director (Civil) and other senior officials of SJVN. On this occasion, Sh A S Bindra Director (Finance) said that such celebrations go a long way in spreading the necessary awareness. He further added that involving youngsters in events like these at schools and colleges will prove more worthwhile to save our Mother Earth.

A Slogan writing competition organized earlier on the theme of “Connecting People to Nature” for employees generated overwhelming response. The prizes were distributed to the best four entries from employees. Sh N L Sharma Director (Personnel), speaking on the occasion emphasized that since time immemorial, India as a nation, has been committed to the cause of protecting and preservation of nature. He further added that we must understand the importance of clean and healthy environment and strive to save it for our future generations.

The celebrations were concluded by organizing a presentation on “Global Environment Issues and Challenges” and quiz competitions for employees of SJVN.
