Shri Abhishek Singh IAS (Nagaland 1995) has been empanelled as Secretary at the Centre.

His academic journey later expanded into the field of public policy when he pursued postgraduate studies in Public Administration at the Harvard Kennedy School in Cambridge, Massachusetts, where he graduated with distinction. During his tenure with the Government of India, Shri Singh has held several key positions within the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, playing an important role in strengthening India’s digital governance architecture. One of the most prominent assignments in his career has been his role as Director General of the National Informatics Centre, the premier government organization responsible for developing and managing critical digital infrastructure and e-governance platforms across the country. In this capacity, he oversaw initiatives aimed at strengthening government technology systems and enhancing digital service delivery.
Prior to this, Shri Singh served as Chief Executive Officer of the National e-Governance Division, where he worked on expanding the scope and effectiveness of digital governance initiatives under the Government of India’s broader digital transformation agenda. His leadership in the division focused on improving the integration of technology with public service systems and ensuring that digital platforms support efficient and transparent governance processes.
Another significant role in his career was his tenure as Chief Executive Officer of MyGov India, the government’s flagship digital citizen engagement platform. He worked as Executive Director (IT) in the Department of Food and Public Distribution under the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, where he was associated with initiatives related to digital systems in food distribution and supply chain management. Earlier in his career, he held positions as Director and Deputy Secretary in the information technology division of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, contributing to policy development and implementation in India’s expanding digital sector.
At the state level, Shri Singh has held several administrative positions that provided him with valuable governance experience across different sectors. His roles included Commissioner and Secretary in state government departments as well as Resident Commissioner, where he was responsible for coordination between the state administration and the central government. Like many accomplished officers in the civil services, Shri Singh’s administrative journey began with grassroots postings in district administration. He served as Sub-Divisional Officer and later as Deputy Commissioner in Mokokchung, gaining direct experience in district governance and public service delivery. His early career also included assignments as District Magistrate in districts such as Budaun, Bulandshahr, and Hardoi during inter-cadre deputation, where he handled district administration, law and order management, and development initiatives.
