Shri Vikas Verma IRSME (2010) has been appointed as CVO- Mumbai Port Authority (MbPA), Mumbai under the Ministry of Ports, Shipping & Waterways (pay level 13) for an initial period of 3 years .
Shri Vikas Verma, a distinguished officer of the Indian Railway Service of Mechanical Engineers (IRSME) , presently serving as Director in the Ministry of Railways, has contributed significantly to policy formulation, systems improvement, and strategic modernization initiatives in the Indian Railways since January 2023. His earlier assignments include serving as Joint Director at the Research Designs and Standards Organization (RDSO) from March 2020 to April 2021, where he was instrumental in technology integration and standardization for railway operations.
Between February 2016 and February 2020, he held the position of Executive Director at the Footwear Design and Development Institute (FDDI) under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, where he successfully handled responsibilities in administration, vigilance, and institutional management, contributing to the organization’s operational efficiency and governance structure.
He began his professional journey as a Mechanical Engineer in the Ministry of Railways, working at Jhansi, Uttar Pradesh, where he honed his technical and managerial expertise through on-ground engineering assignments.
Academically accomplished, Shri Verma holds a Master of Engineering (M.Eng.) from Hokkaido University, Japan (2023), reflecting his pursuit of global exposure and technical excellence. He earned his Bachelor of Engineering (B.E.) in Mechanical Engineering from the Birla Institute of Technology, Mesra, laying a strong foundation in engineering and analytical skills. He also completed a Leadership Program from the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Ahmedabad in 2019 and a Management Development Programme from the National Academy of Indian Railways, further enhancing his leadership and strategic management capabilities.
