The Vice-President of India, Shri Jagdeep Dhankar, emphasized the vital importance of viewing education as a service to the nation and urged individuals to give back to society what they gain from it. He cautioned against using education primarily for commercial and business purposes, highlighting that it runs counter to the societal cause and the essence of our civilization.

Speaking at the 3rd Convocation Ceremony of the Royal Assam Global University in Guwahati, the Vice-President praised quality education as a potent mechanism for societal transformation. He also raised concerns about the brain drain and the outflow of foreign exchange to foreign countries, emphasizing the need to retain talent within the nation.

Describing the convocation as a recognition of the training provided by teachers and the realization of family aspirations, Shri Jagdeep Dhankar advised students to avoid activities that could bring disrepute to their educators and parents.

He commended the National Education Policy for integrating knowledge and skills, allowing students to pursue concurrent courses.

The Vice-President applauded the recent successful landing of Chandrayaan-3 on the moon’s south pole, stressing that failure is a necessary step toward success. He encouraged students to maintain a lasting connection with their institutions and contribute to their resources for the betterment of education.

Shri Dhankar called for responsible consumption of natural resources, basing it on necessity rather than fiscal affordability.

During the ceremony, the Vice-President recognized the significant representation of female graduates, highlighting the evolving profile of the nation and the historic passing of the Women Reservation Bill in Parliament.

The Vice-President had earlier visited Cotton University in Guwahati, engaging with students and faculty members, and later attended a felicitation program organized by the Brihattar Guwahati Marwari Samaj in Guwahati.
