V S Ilanthirai takes charge as CGM – BSNL, Tamil Nadu
Shri. V.S. Ilanthirai, Higher Administrative Grade officer of Indian Telecom Services, (1992 Batch), has newly assumed the charge of Chief General Manager, BSNL, Tamil Nadu Circle.
He graduated in Electronics & Communication Engineering in Government College of Technology, Coimbatore. and Post Graduation at M.S.(Software Systems) in BITS, Pilani, Rajasthan.
He started his career in Electronic Corporation of India Limited (ECIL) at Hyderabad and he was the first Engineer to install the Laser Trimming Robotics machine from CHICAGO, USA at ECIL Hyderabad.
He has also served Indian Telephone Industries (ITI), Bangalore and associated himself in all the telecom products and total solutions covering the whole spectrum of Switching, Transmission, Access and Subscriber Premises equipment. He was also leading & managing the various projects of installations & commissioning of French Telecom (E10B ) Products for Department of Telecom in many parts of the country.
Subsequently, he has entered into Indian Engineering Services conducted by UPSC and become CLASS-I officer of Indian Telecom Service in Department of Telecom and completed various major projects at MUMBAI & CHENNAI. The Telecom exchanges like OCB 283 Alcatel technology from France, Axe 10 Ericssion from Sweden, EWSD Siemen from German, 5ESS AT & T from USA were successfully installed & commissioned by him.
Also, He worked Network planning, operation & Customer service & Billing in Chennai as Deputy General Manager. He served as a Networking Co-ordinator for all the Telecom Service Providers viz., AIRTEL, RELIANCE, TATA & Vodafone etc. at the time of privatization of Telecom networks by Govt. of India.
He had also served as Director, Department of Telecom at Portblair, Andhaman & Nicobar Islands where he was in charge of Telecom enforcement resource monitoring cell.
In addition, He was Senior Principal, Regional Telecom Training Centre, Marai Malai Nagar, Chennai in 2010. During this tenure he was the overall coordinator cum external guide / examiner for various Telecom / wireless projects of ECE, CSE students of various colleges affiliated to Anna university & various deemed universities.
He had represented Govt. of India, at WANCHAI, HONG KONG, CHINA in the International conference on wireless communication & evolution of VALUE ADDED SERVICE (VAS) products.
