Ms. Valsa Nair Singh IAS (Maharashtra 1991) presently Principal Secretary Tourism and Culture, has been appointed the Principal Secretary, Enquiry Officer, GAD, Civil Aviation and Excise  Government of Maharashtra.

Ms. Valsa Nair Singh began her service as the Sub-Divisional Magistrate of Ghaziabad in Uttar Pradesh. During her tenure, Ghaziabad witnessed the first crime free assembly elections. She also worked in the Noida Authority and Greater Noida Authority, the two planned cities in the national capital region of Delhi. This exposure to urban planning has been of great benefit in subsequent postings in Maharashtra cadre. On transfer to Maharashtra cadre in 1998, Ms. Valsa Nair Singh was posted to Chandrapur and then to Gadchiroli district in the Vidarbha region as the Chief Executive Officer of the Zilla Parishad. This was an opportunity to implement the Government policies at the cutting edge level and that too in some of the most under developed areas of the State. As District Collector of Mumbai city and later as Divisional Commissioner for Konkan Division, Ms. Valsa Nair Singh has been closely associated with the problems of Mumbai and Mumbai Metropolitan Region. After her Masters in Public Policy in Syracuse University in the USA, Ms. Valsa Nair Singh handled the Department of Environment in the Government of Maharashtra from 2008. Several new and innovative policies were introduced during this time, for eg. Green Ideas, the Environment Service Scheme in schools, the Certificate course for STP operators, GREEN GANESHA, Noiseless Diwali and natural Holi programmes. She was instrumental in drafting the Environment friendly Guidelines for the construction sector in Maharashtra.
