Union Home Minister chairs HLC , meeting for Central assistance to states affected by drought

The Union Home Minister, Shri Rajnath Singh chaired a meeting of the High Level Committee (HLC) here for Central Assistance to States affected by drought.

The Union Minister for Finance, Corporate Affairs and Information and Broadcasting Shri Arun Jaitley, Union Home Secretary Shri Rajiv Mehrishi and senior officers of the Ministries of Home, Finance and Agriculture attended the meeting.

The Committee examined the proposals based on the report of the Central Team which visited the affected states by severe drought. The HLC approved the assistance from the National Disaster Relief Fund (NDRF) in respect of Assam to the tune of Rs 332.57 crore, Rs. 336.94 crore for Jharkhand and Rs. 1,193.41 crore for Rajasthan.

The HLC also approved the assistance from NDRF in respect of Andhra Pradesh to the tune of Rs 280.19 crore besides Rs.9.00 crore from Special component of National Rural Drinking Water Programee (NRDWP) for repair of damaged rural drinking water supply works, Rs.170.19 crore for Himachal Pradesh and another Rs.12.00 crore from NRDWP and Rs 16.02 crore for Nagaland besides Rs.4.00 crore from NRDWP and Rs.1,737.65 crore for Tamil Nadu and Rs.32.00 crore from NRDWP.
