Tirath Singh Rawat has been named as the new Chief Minister of Uttarakhand and will take oath later in the day.

In 2012, he was elected as MLA and in 2013 he became Uttarakhand BJP Chief and has also been the  state vice president of Uttar Pradesh Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha. In 1997, he was elected as member of UP Legislative Council and was elected as president of the legislative council of Uttar Pradesh and was the first education minister of newly formed state Uttarakhand. In 2007 , he was elected as state general secretary of Uttarakhand in and after that state chief electoral officer and state membership chief.

As Uttarakhand BJP President,  he won four mayoral posts in municipal corporations out of six .  Uttarakhand was in 2nd position in terms of voting percent throughout India. He was elected as MP from Pauri Lokasabha Seat in 2019 where he defeated his nearest rival Manish Khanduri by more than 03.50 lakh votes.

He is now the CM of the state of Uttrakhand after the resignation of Trivendra Singh Rawat since yesterday.
