Dr. Srivatsa Krishna is an accomplished civil servant whose career spans strategic leadership roles across the Government of India, state administrations, and premier international institutions. A scholar-administrator with deep expertise in management, technology, public policy, and governance, he is widely regarded for his innovative contributions to institution-building and administrative reforms. Dr. Krishna’s academic journey reflects exceptional merit and global exposure. He completed his postgraduate studies in International Studies from Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), Delhi, graduating with first-class distinction. He later pursued a Master of Business Administration at Harvard University, where he specialised in management. To strengthen his understanding of global financial systems, he completed a certificate course in finance at the University of Oxford. He went on to earn a Ph.D. in Management from IIT Madras, cementing his academic expertise in strategic governance and organisational leadership.
Over the course of his distinguished service, Dr. Krishna has held several prominent assignments. His tenure as Secretary, Ministry of Tourism, Government of India (2025–2028), marked a significant phase in national tourism strategy, where he oversaw flagship initiatives aimed at boosting sustainable tourism, strengthening international partnerships, and leveraging digital innovation to enhance visitor experience. Before this role, he served as Joint Secretary (Equivalent) in the Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Government of India, and as Secretary of the Coffee Board in Bengaluru (2017–2022). During this period, he played an instrumental role in promoting India’s coffee sector, expanding export competitiveness, and strengthening market linkages for growers. Dr. Krishna also brings valuable global experience. From 2003 to 2008, he served as Group Program Manager at the World Bank Group and IFC in Washington, D.C., where he worked on governance reforms, development finance, and institutional capacity building across emerging economies. His international exposure reinforced his strategic outlook and deepened his commitment to evidence-based policy-making.
Throughout his career, he has navigated a wide spectrum of responsibilities—including periods of study leave, ex-India assignments, and senior cadre postings—demonstrating consistency, intellectual depth, and administrative versatility. His leadership has contributed significantly to reforms in commerce, technology, urban development, tourism, and public administration.
