“Sashakt Samaj – Samridh Bharat” organised by Vishwa Sindhi Hindu Foundation of Associations
Lok Sabha Speaker Shri Om Birla praised the Sindhi community’s enduring legacy of service, resilience, and cultural richness, stating that these qualities have positioned the community as an influential contributor to India’s social, economic, and cultural development. Speaking at the “Sashakt Samaj – Samridh Bharat” programme organised by the Vishwa Sindhi Hindu Foundation of Associations (VSHFA) at Vigyan Bhawan, Shri Birla highlighted how the community’s value systems and collective strength reinforce the foundational ideals of a strong and progressive India. The event was attended by several dignitaries, including Delhi Chief Minister Smt. Rekha Gupta.
Shri Birla noted that the Sindhi community has consistently excelled across diverse sectors such as business, industry, banking, services, and new-age technologies. Their achievements, he said, go far beyond economic success. They are rooted in timeless values—trust, honesty, cooperation, and ethical conduct—traits that not only help build strong enterprises but also deepen societal cohesion. These attributes, he observed, exemplify the spirit of a vibrant and inclusive India.
Reflecting on the difficult period of Partition, Shri Birla pointed out that the Sindhi community’s story is one of extraordinary courage and reinvention. The trauma of displacement in 1947 brought immense material loss, but it failed to shake the community’s cultural core. They held firmly to their religion, traditions, and customs, while simultaneously rebuilding their lives with remarkable determination. “The trials of Partition strengthened the community instead of weakening it,” he said, adding that their journey from adversity to accomplishment stands as a powerful message of resilience and pride in cultural identity.
Shri Birla further emphasized that India’s greatest strength lies in its diversity. He underlined that unity, coordination, and mutual respect among communities are essential for achieving Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a Viksit Bharat by 2047. In this context, he applauded the Sindhi community for its unwavering dedication to education, healthcare, social service, and welfare activities. Their consistent commitment to inclusive development, he added, enriches the social fabric and strengthens the nation’s collective progress.
Sharing his long-standing association with the community, Shri Birla recalled that since 2003, he has experienced their warmth, support, and goodwill. His interactions with Sindhi associations during parliamentary visits abroad—from Barbados to Suriname to Mexico—reinforced his admiration for the community. In many countries, he noted, vibrant Sindhi populations have established themselves as integral parts of local economies while preserving their distinctive cultural heritage. This balance of assimilation and identity preservation reflects the adaptability and global outlook for which the community is known.
The Lok Sabha Speaker also commended the entrepreneurial zeal of Sindhi youth. He said their innovation, especially in emerging technologies and new-age industries, is energizing India’s economic growth story. Their forward-thinking mindset, global readiness, and capacity to build businesses from scratch serve as an inspiration for youth across communities. He recalled Prime Minister Modi’s praise for the Sindhi community, reiterating that their collective journey is a global lesson in courage, cultural continuity, and hard work.
Shri Birla added that the success stories emerging from the Sindhi community—whether in India or overseas—bring immense pride to the nation. Their achievements reflect not only personal or community milestones, but also contribute to India’s international reputation as a land of resilient, innovative, and culturally grounded people. He remarked that the Indian Bureaucracy and various public institutions have also benefitted from the community’s values-driven approach and sharp leadership instincts.
In his concluding remarks, the Speaker lauded the Vishwa Sindhi Hindu Foundation of Associations for its efforts in bringing the community together on a unified platform. Organizations like VSHFA, he said, play an essential role in preserving culture, strengthening community bonds, and nurturing the spirit of nation-building. The dialogue, workshops, and collective ideas emerging from such initiatives, he hoped, would contribute significantly to strengthening youth leadership, promoting social empowerment, and fostering a more united India.
He expressed confidence that the Sindhi community will continue to be a catalyst for India’s growth narrative. As the nation moves toward 2047 with aspirations of becoming a global leader, communities like the Sindhis—with their blend of tradition, enterprise, ethics, and optimism—will remain pivotal to building a strong, prosperous, and harmonious nation.
Shri Pavan Sindhi, National Vice- President said that the Sindhi community is significantly contributing to India’s development through its entrepreneurial spirit, global business networks, and deep-rooted values of trust and service. Excelling in trade, technology, education, and social welfare, Sindhis generate employment, strengthen economic growth, and enrich cultural diversity. Their resilience and innovation continue to inspire national progress and support inclusive growth.
Chief Minister of Delhi, Smt. Rekha Gupta, along with several distinguished guests, graced the occasion and appreciated the community’s contributions and cultural vitality. The programme concluded with a renewed pledge to uphold the values of service, unity, and progress—values that the Sindhi community has exemplified for generations.
