Shri Sanjeev Kumar Mittal IAS (AGMUT 2011), presently Director, Directorate of Agricultural Marketing (DAM), is appointed as ex-officio Secretary, Directorate of Agricultural Marketing, Delhi government (dt 11.09.2025). The position empows him to dispose of matters on behalf of the President of India within the Directorate, without any extra privileges or financial benefits.
DAM also oversees key wholesale markets, including Azadpur Mandi, Asia’s largest fruit and vegetable hub, handling over 13,000 metric tonnes of produce daily. DAM ensures farmers’ access and stable supply in these wholesale markets with fair pricing for consumers in Delhi, with ripple effects across NCR cities like Gurugram, Faridabad, and Noida, where local vendors and wholesalers source much of their fresh produce from markets of Delhi as Agri-products are highly sensitive to prices hikes due to weather, seasons, or farmer protests.
Beyond regulation, DAM advances digitisation through e-NAM and infrastructure upgrades, promoting transparency and competition across diverse markets. Guided by the Delhi Agricultural Marketing Board, it proposes new market sites and equitable practices, solidifying its position as a cornerstone of agri-economic governance in the NCT of Delhi and beyond.
