Shri Sandeep Mondal IPS (West Bengal 2014), presently Commanding Officer, SAP 9th Battalion, has been transferred and posted as Commanding Officer, SAP 7th Battalion, West Bengal.
The Commanding Officer (CO), SAP 7th Battalion, West Bengal, is a senior police officer responsible for leading the 7th Battalion of the State Armed Police (SAP) under the West Bengal Police. The SAP battalions function as armed reserve units deployed for maintaining law and order, riot control, anti-insurgency operations, election duties, and other security-related assignments across the state. As the head of the battalion, the Commanding Officer oversees operational readiness, training, discipline, logistics, and welfare of personnel. The officer ensures that the unit remains fully prepared for rapid deployment during emergencies, large public gatherings, festivals, and sensitive law and order situations.
The CO also coordinates with district police authorities and senior command at the state headquarters for effective mobilisation and execution of assigned duties.
