Shri Sajjan Singh Yadav, an accomplished officer of the Indian Administrative Service, represents a fine blend of academic excellence, global exposure, and extensive administrative experience. Over the years, he has built a reputation for navigating complex governance landscapes with clarity and composure, particularly in the domains of public finance, urban administration, and social sector management—areas central to the evolving priorities of the Indian Bureaucracy.
Shri Yadav’s academic journey reflects both depth and diversity. He completed his postgraduate studies in Animal Husbandry with first-class distinction, demonstrating early academic rigor. He further pursued a Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Finance from the prestigious Faculty of Management Studies (FMS), University of Delhi, where he again secured top academic standing. Strengthening his global perspective, he earned a Master of Public Affairs (MPA) from the Hubert H. Humphrey School of Public Affairs at the University of Minnesota, USA, graduating with an ‘A’ grade. Beginning his administrative career in the northeastern states, Shri Yadav served as Assistant Commissioner in Mizoram and later as Deputy Commissioner in Arunachal Pradesh. These formative assignments exposed him to the complexities of district administration in geographically and culturally diverse regions. His tenure was marked by a grounded approach to governance, emphasizing accessibility, coordination, and responsiveness to local needs.
On moving to the National Capital Territory of Delhi, Shri Yadav undertook a range of critical roles that highlighted his administrative adaptability. As Deputy Commissioner in South Delhi and later as Special Secretary to the Chief Minister, he was closely involved in policy coordination and urban governance. His subsequent roles in excise administration and corporate affairs at the central level further broadened his experience, particularly in regulatory and institutional domains.
A significant phase of his career unfolded in the Government of NCT of Delhi, where he held key positions such as Commissioner in the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (East), Secretary in the Urban Development Department, and Secretary & Commissioner in the Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs Department. In these roles, he contributed to improving service delivery systems, managing essential commodities, and addressing urban governance challenges in one of India’s most complex metropolitan regions. His tenure as CEO of the Delhi Jal Board also reflected his engagement with critical urban infrastructure, particularly in water resource management and public utility services.

As Commissioner of Commercial Taxes and later as Finance Commissioner (Revenue), he dealt with crucial aspects of fiscal management, revenue generation, and taxation systems.
