SAIL-CMO observes Vigilance Awareness Week

Vigilance Awareness Week was observed by all offices of SAIL’s Central Marketing Organisation (CMO) across India from October 29 to November 3, 2018 with a flurry of events on the theme ‘Eradicate Corruption – Build a New India’, as directed by the Central Vigilance Commission.

On October 29, at CMO headquarters at Ispat Bhawan in Kolkata, the opening ceremony set the ball rolling with senior officials of CMO paying tributes to the Iron Man of India Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. A pledge, based on the Vigilance Awareness Week theme was also read out by the CMO collective on this occasion. Shri B. Chongdar, ED (Marketing), in his keynote address, emphasised upon the importance of maintaining a transparent work culture to enable the Vigilance department play a positive role.

The countrywide activities that spanned the week included display of anti-corruption messages through banners and posters, competitions on slogan and paragraph writing as well as online quiz, interactive sessions with customers and other stakeholders, and a debate competition. As a part of outbound activity, inter-college quiz contests on this year’s theme were also organised at Kolkata and Mumbai which saw huge participation from various institutions.

A talk by Shri P.K. Panigrahi, SP, CBI, was also organised at Ispat Bhavan, Kolkata. Shri Panigrahi enlightened the audience with interesting and valuable inputs on cybercrime and analyzed how state-of-the-art cyber technology has played its proactive role in the detection of fraud.

The closing ceremony of the week-long observation was held on 3rd November at all the CMO Regional Offices and headquarters, and winners of various contests were awarded trophies and cash prizes.
