Functioning under the Health and Family Welfare Department, Government of Tamil Nadu, the Managing Director is responsible for overseeing the procurement, quality assurance, warehousing, and distribution of medicines, medical equipment, surgical consumables, and diagnostic supplies to government healthcare institutions across the State. The office is central to ensuring uninterrupted availability of quality healthcare resources while promoting transparency, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness in public procurement.
Established as a pioneering public sector enterprise, the Tamil Nadu Medical Services Corporation has become a nationally recognised model for transparent procurement and scientific supply chain management. Under the guidance of the Managing Director, TNMSC has adopted e-procurement systems, digital inventory management, real-time supply chain monitoring, online vendor management, and data-driven decision-making processes. These technological interventions have strengthened transparency, reduced procurement timelines, and improved accountability across the organisation.
Financial management constitutes another key responsibility of the office.
