Shri Gopalakrishnan S IAS (Tamil Nadu 1991) has been appointed as Joint Secretary, Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology for a tenure of five years vice Shri Rajiv Bansal IAS (Nagaland 1998).

Shri S Gopalakrishnan serves as General Manager of The New India Assurance Co. Ltd. Mr. Gopalakrishnan served as Managing Director of Tamilnadu Industrial Explosives Ltd. until August 17, 2007. He served as Chairman of the Board of Tanfac Industries since October 25, 2007. Mr. Gopalakrishnan served as Chairman of the Board of Tamilnadu Telecommunications Ltd., from December 10, 2007 to July 30, 2008. He serves as a Director of OTC Exchange of India. He served as Director of Tamilnadu Industrial Explosives Ltd. until August 17, 2007.
