Reliance Jio poised to launch Five Lakh Connectivity Stores

The telecom arm of Reliance Industries, Reliance Jio Infocomm Limited is gearing itself for its most-awaited launch. It is establishing a strong distribution and service network to increase the customer reach across the country. During the launch, the company will have five lakh connectivity stores and twice this number of recharge stores.

Reliance Jio will be offering 4G-enabled devices to the customers by selling devices of both open market and own brand. Reliance Industries is planning to increase the number of Reliance Digital stores. Reliance Digital currently has around 1,300 outlets. The company added 100 Reliance Digital Express Mini outlets in the first quarter of Financial Year 2015-2016.

Reliance Jio will commercially launch its 4G and other telecom services in 80% of its circle by December, this year. It will also establish and initiate the functioning of data centers at three locations in India, by that time. These centers will have a total capacity of 0.65 million square feet. All 4G smartphones of Reliance Jio will have default feature of Voice over Long Term Evolution (VoLTE). The company is in talks with 28 smartphone brands like Apple, Samsung and Micromax to sell self-branded 4G devices. Besides, it is also dealing with Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) for pocket router solution. These Wi-Fi routers will connect 2G or 3G-enabled smartphones to 4G networks.

The company is also working with chipmakers like Intel, Qualcomm and three others for efficient access of 4G networks on the devices

Reliance Jio Infocomm has established 2.5 lakhkm route of optical fiber across India. This will help the company to offer wire-based services. Besides, 75,000 towerswill ensure seamless wireless 4G connections. Reliance Jio will double its optical fiber footprint and cover its entire licensed region by 2018. The company has marked its presence in all the states of the country and in 18,000 towns and cities.

Reliance Jio is conducting varied tests to ensure smooth connectivity for the customers. The company will also begin an extensive beta program in August to further test the network before it is commercially launched.

A successful demonstration of its Lawful Intercept and Monitoring (LIM) facilities for varied services in all its regions has been done in front of Department of Telecom (DoT). Reliance Jio has also abode with DoT’s instructions and demonstrated capabilities of Proof-of-Concept’s Aadhaar based Electronic-Know Your Customer (e-KYC). Besides, DoT has also approved Reliance Jio on tests of the intra-circle and inter-circle mobile number portability.

Apart from all these, Reliance Industries will also rollout its e-commerce venture before the end of 2015. It will integrate the online retailing with Jio’s 4G services to attract more customers and offer anytime, anywhere shopping.
