REC foundation, the CSR arm of REC Limited has provided assistance for the construction of a 40 bedded Dementia Care centre at National Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences (NIMHANS) in Bengaluru, Karnataka. The centre aims to provide care to 40 residential patients (20 female & 20 male), one-third which are below poverty line (BPL), one-third which are above poverty line (APL) with 50% subsidize rates and the rest without any subsidy.

The main objective of this project is to be able to provide state-of-the-art facilities to people suffering from dementia, which is a ‘Public Health Priority’ as declared by World Health Organization (WHO) in 2012. The centre will also offer training to mental health professionals and geriatric care workers and provide facility to do research.
