REC Foundation to Boost Healthcare Infrastructure in Meerut, Partners with LLRM Medical College
Reinforcing its commitment towards inclusive healthcare and community welfare, the CSR arm of REC Limited, REC Foundation, signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with Lala Lajpat Rai Memorial Medical College on May 21, 2026, for providing doorstep primary healthcare services to deprived and underserved sections of society in Meerut district of Uttar Pradesh.
The initiative aims to bridge the healthcare accessibility gap in rural and remote areas by ensuring that essential medical services reach communities that often remain beyond the effective reach of conventional healthcare systems. Through this collaboration, REC Foundation seeks to strengthen primary healthcare delivery and improve the quality of life for vulnerable populations in the region.
The signing ceremony was attended by several distinguished dignitaries and senior officials. Among those present were Arun Govil, who graced the occasion as the chief guest, and Shri Ramesh Gupta, Principal of LLRM Medical College. Senior officials from REC Limited also participated in the ceremony, including Shri TSC Bosh, Director (Projects); Shri Rajesh Kumar, Director (Finance); Shri Arun Kumar Tyagi, Executive Director (CSR); and Shri Bhupesh Chandolia, Head of Department (CSR).
Under the agreement, REC Foundation has committed financial assistance amounting to ₹1.20 crore for the procurement and deployment of one Mobile Medical Unit (MMU). The funding will also cover the operational expenditure of the unit for a period of three years, ensuring sustained healthcare support for the targeted communities.
The Mobile Medical Unit is expected to play a significant role in extending primary healthcare services directly to the doorsteps of people residing in remote and underserved locations. Equipped with essential medical facilities and healthcare personnel, the MMU will provide timely medical consultations, basic diagnostic services, health check-ups, medicines, and preventive healthcare awareness. Such mobile healthcare systems are particularly beneficial for elderly individuals, women, children, and economically weaker sections who often face challenges in accessing hospitals and healthcare centres.
The initiative is aligned with the broader objective of improving healthcare outreach and reducing disparities in medical access across rural and semi-urban areas. By taking healthcare services directly to the people, the programme is expected to contribute significantly towards early diagnosis, preventive care, and overall public health awareness in Meerut district.
Speaking on the occasion, officials highlighted the importance of collaborative efforts between public institutions and corporate entities in addressing healthcare challenges at the grassroots level. The partnership between REC Foundation and LLRM Medical College reflects a shared vision of ensuring affordable and accessible healthcare services for all sections of society.
REC Foundation has consistently undertaken several impactful CSR initiatives across sectors such as healthcare, education, rural development, sanitation, skill development, and environmental sustainability. The organisation has been actively supporting projects aimed at creating long-term social impact and strengthening community infrastructure across the country.
Healthcare remains one of the major focus areas of REC Foundation’s CSR interventions. Through projects such as mobile medical units, healthcare infrastructure support, medical equipment assistance, and community health programmes, the Foundation continues to contribute towards enhancing healthcare accessibility in underserved regions.
The latest initiative in Meerut further demonstrates REC Foundation’s dedication towards inclusive growth and social responsibility. By supporting doorstep healthcare services through the deployment of a Mobile Medical Unit, the Foundation is taking a meaningful step towards ensuring that quality healthcare reaches even the last mile.
Such focused CSR efforts are expected to make a lasting difference in the lives of thousands of beneficiaries while strengthening the public healthcare ecosystem in Uttar Pradesh.
