We must find out alternatives to and replacements of existing steel making technologies which rely heavily on imported raw material like coking coal. For optimal utilization of land bank available with companies, modernization & expansion, as also industrialization in general, must go for vertical route instead of horizontal route. Core, technical & specialized jobs must not be outsourced by the companies. Technically competent people must be given regular jobs so that they don’t lose out on the Social Security benefits. To achieve this, we must shorten the time from manpower need planning to recruitment.”
