Shri Ravi Jain IAS (Rajasthan 2004) presently Collector and District Magistrate, Jhunjhunu strongly feels that Jhunjhunu must be brought under the spectrum of the Rashtriya Kishor Swasthya Karyakram (RKSK), a programme
meant to help adolescents. This programme is being implemented in 10 districts of Rajasthan. The adolescent population in Jhunjhunu comprises of 23% of the total population, which is roughly 5 lakh and that makes this issue highly relevant. Keeping in mind the importance of adolescent issues, Mr. Jain says that front line workers and the teachers in schools have been trained to create awareness among adolescents, especially about their physical and mental health, constantly urging them to refrain from falling prey to substance abuse. " Adolescence is a period of transition. With proper training and guidance, every adolescent can grow into a healthy individual and contribute to the progress of the nation", says Jain.
The Rashtriya Kishor Swasthya Karyakram was launched on 7th January 2014. The key principle of this programme is adolescent participation and Leadership, Equity and Inclusion. The programme envisions enabling all adolescents in India to realize their full potential by helping them make informed and responsible decisions and to have every kind of support and service required from the government.
