Smt Ranjita, born on 20 August 1980 in Bihar, is a direct recruit to the IAS and is proficient in Hindi. She holds a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) degree in History from Magadh University, Bodh Gaya.
Smt Ranjita began her administrative career with training at the Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration (LBSNAA), Mussoorie, followed by early field postings as Assistant Collector and Assistant District Magistrate in Bihar. Notably, during her initial field assignments, she was posted in Sitamarhi as part of her early administrative exposure.
Over the years, she has handled a range of responsibilities across governance sectors. She served as District Magistrate of Siwan from 2018 to 2020, where she was responsible for district administration, law and order, and development programmes. She later held key positions including Labour Commissioner, Bihar, and was also entrusted with additional responsibilities such as Director (Planning) and roles linked to the Bihar Skill Development Mission.
In 2024, she was appointed Director, Social Welfare, further strengthening her role in social justice and welfare delivery in the state. She has also completed the Phase III Mid-Career Training Programme (MCTP) in 2023, reflecting continued professional advancement.
Her career reflects a strong grounding in district administration as well as policy-level roles, with a focus on welfare governance, labour administration, and inclusive development in Bihar.
