In an Indian Bureaucracy appointment news update, Shri Rakesh Asthana IPS (Gujarat 1984) presently Additional Director in Central Bureau of Investigation has been appointed the Special Director of the CBI.
Shri Asthana had held several important assignments in Gujarat. He has also served as the commissioner of police, Vadodara and Surat. He had headed the special investigation team (SIT), which probed the Godhra train arson of February 2002.
